Our first night( the 3rd) Amy made tostadas ...it was wonderful. We chowed down.
On the 4th, Hikers started trickling in...Kiwi (from New Zealand), Redneck (German), a guy from Annapolis, another guy who was active in a CSB Battalion and went to Weaton, A family hiking the trail together, a Mother and Son...just a really diverse group of interesting people with one thing in common...the AT.
Hot Dogs, Burgers, Steaks, Cold Drinks, bonfire, fireworks...it was quite an event.
So we spent the whole day staying cool, hanging out with other hikers and enjoying the hospitality of Bill and Amy. It was a great way to spend the 4th...and a nice break from the trail. We also got fully resupplied, did our laundry, and got ready to hit the ground hiking on the 5th. We better....that's our second zero this week...lol. But this is part of hiking the trail...you have to roll with opportunities as they come.
Thank You Bill and Amy.
What a memorable and wonderful July 4th! That's a spectacular bonfire, complete with sparks to light up the July 4th night sky. Man keeps trying to duplicate characteristics of the natural elements. But to experience the vast range of wind, rain, fire and light with all your senses in the wild can be truly exhilarating.
